How do you use networking to grow your business? (3:00)

“I am constantly networking and cultivating relationships every single day. It could be just gaining mentors, to gaining friendships and learning from other people in different areas to also network to gain new clients.”

How is social media beneficial for small business? (3:10)

“I think just cause of the visibility. Marketing these days, you have to be just so visible before anybody reacts and purchases your product or service.”

What is your favorite part about the job? (4:50)

“I think its really neat cause I get to be a small part of these businesses and I get to watch them grow and help them grow. And I am so passionate about small businesses. That’s what I love to do is just help those entrepreneurs and small business owners with their passion.”

Share with us one of your best networking stories (5:40)

“I was so scared, but I decided to reach out to a girl who I thought was my competition because I have been compared to her and people had asked if I knew her. So, I decided I needed to just sit down with her and kind of get an understanding of what she does so, I could be upfront with her and let her know, hey I think we are competition, and how do we work through this…”

How do you stay in front of your network or community? (7:30)

“it’s a long-term avenue and it’s not something that’s done overnight. So, I just really continue to cultivate those relationships that I make. So, if I meet somebody whether they are a peer or somebody that can help me with my business, ill always stay up to date with them…”

What advice do you have for business professionals looking to grow their networks? (10:30)

“Well first and foremost I really want to hone in on you know, what network am I trying to expand to, and what is the goal behind it. So, if I’m expanding into my local network, I know it consists of a lot of in-person interaction. So, with that I like to go to a lot of business meetings, you know really interact with the business groups…”

Digital networking or traditional networking? (13:00)

“I would have to say both, and both take different approaches. But I think I started off with the traditional approach and I wish I would have incorporated more of the digital approach as well. Because they both balance each other very, very well.”

If you could go back 20 years, what would you tell yourself to do more or less of regarding your career? (14:15)

“I think I would have definitely reached out more through digital networking. I wish I would have done that because I could see that my business would be a little bit further down the road then it is… its never to early to start doing that (networking), and I wish I would have realized that.”

We’ve all heard of the 6 degrees of separation… Now, who would be the one person you’d love to connect with and do you think you could do it within the 6th degree? How would you start that journey? (15:30)

“Yes, I think I could and that person for me would probably be Jenna Couture. I don’t know if you know her, but she is a digital marketing educator and also a photographer. I follow her on Instagram and I just love her, she has such a great story and she really takes you along her journey and life through Instagram.”

Any final words of advice for our listeners? (17:30)

“Don’t react out of fear, I think I definitely did that early on in my business and looking back I wish I had not done that. Anybody that I have reached out to whether it was just to get coffee with them or have lunch or even you know just connect over email, have always been more than willing to connect.”
