About Brian Shea

Brian Shea started Shea Consulting in 2012 to help organizations use technology to improve how they engage with their customers. Today, Shea Consulting is a multidisciplinary team of strategists and developers that specialize in business process engineering on the Salesforce platform. Past clients include firms in financial services, insurance, and higher ed sectors. Brian lives in Central Massachusetts with his family.


How do you know which CRM is best for a business?

“you are totally right with the number of CRMs. There is so many out there… it's usually not the technology that’s the most important thing, it’s usually the underlying thing you are trying to execute on.”


How much should I expect to spend for a CRM is best for a business?

“this is one of those, it depends, kind of things. There’s pricing on like a salesforce, is a per-user license. So, its somewhere between $60-$70 per user on the lower end per month. To, into the hundreds per user per month.”


What’s your favorite conference?

“the one that I was at most recently is a conference here in Boston, called, Service Design Week.  Which is a conference about process and developing customer services.”


How do you stay in front or best nurture your network community?

“I like interacting with people one on one more than anything else. I do like blogging but in my own business, I’ve kind of fallen behind. So, I really just make a strong habit of keeping a list of clients and prospects…”


Digital networking or traditional networking?

“For me, it’s definitely traditional. The way I try to think of it is like they go together well.”


If you could go back 20 years, what would you tell yourself to do more or less of regarding your career?

“id say one thing is probably to trust people more, like in the sense of there’s a lot of people out there that will support you and that you can build great relationships with. And I think earlier in my career I was more timid of meeting new people and building relationships…”


What book are you reading right now?

“I have been reading a lot of Mary Oliver poetry recently. I don’t know if that’s a great business recommendation. Her poetry is fantastic.”


Any final words of advice for our listeners?

“I think its always good to be optimistic, a glass half full kind of person."
