What does personal branding mean to you?

“well, really I think personal branding is what people say about you when you are not in the room. Its how you build your persona both online and offline and what that reputation really means to people. It’s a combination of your confidence the strategies and the activities you all put together to build your platform online.”

How can someone best build their personal brand?

“of course, I think authorship is the best way, to build your personal brand. I’ve helped 40 authors become bestselling authors. But I also think its really important that maybe authorship isn’t your gig. Perhaps its speaking or having a podcast or doing videos…”

What is your favorite macaron flavor?

“Well, first of all, I love all things, French. That’s just me, a total Francophile. But I am more of a classic macaron lover…”

Can you share with me your most successful or favorite networking story/experience that you’ve had?

“…so, I have met a few people online because of that. Well, one person, I met on Instagram because she also loves France. And guess what she’s from South Africa so were both from opposite sides of the world. And we actually got to meet in Paris…”

How do you stay in front of, or best nurture your network community?

“one of the things I obviously use Instagram just because people love to eat and travel with their eyes. And secondly, I use LinkedIn. A lot of the people that I’m meeting and at the capacity that I am meeting them are in professional environments…”

What advice do you have for the professional on growing their network?

“the first thing I would say is to show up. I mean be present and attend different networking events that you may have locally or even if like me when I’m traveling and speaking across the country there may be something I see on meetup…”

Digital networking or traditional networking?

“I find value in both. And I really try to live my networking experiences fifty-fifty. There’s so much value in traditional where people actually belly to belly with people. They can feel your energy, which is I really enjoy video…”

If you could go back 20 years, what would you tell yourself to do more or less of regarding your career?

“first I would think I would tell myself to definitely nurture relationships more. Like not thinking that someone is completely out of touch or out of reach. But really trying to nurture those relationships.”

We’ve all heard of the 6 degrees of separation… Now, who would be the one person you’d love to connect with and do you think you could do it within the 6th degree?

“Well, first of all, it would be my business crush which is Gary Vaynerchuck. And yes, I do think I would be able to do it within six degrees.”

What book are you reading right now?

“Well, I listen to podcasts all the time. I was just having lunch with a friend and I said I was listening to this podcast and she goes really because she knows I listen to them all the time. But what I'm reading right now is YouTube Secrets…’

Any final words of advice for our listeners?

“find the one thing that moves the needle in building your brand or building your network and do that.”
