Why should a business owner consider hiring a coach?
“Coaches are there to primarily do two things. Help you make more money, and help you get to where you want to go faster. That should happen in a way that honors your time, and the money part should be fairly predictable.”
What if I’m not sure if I’m ready for a coach?
“…It’s called the Million Dollar Entrepreneurs Intensive. And it's designed to do exactly that. It's designed to show you how a business that’s working like it should be working works. And teach you in a full day, teach you how to do it.”
What kind of results should we expect from networking?
“so networking is one lead generation strategy of about 100. There are many, many different ways we can generate leads. From telemarketing to networking to social media to public speaking, to doing podcasts. And networking is a long-term strategy…”
Can you share with me your most successful or favorite networking story/experience that you’ve had?
“…one of my roles in manufacturing was I was running a research and development facility for Fiskars, the orange handled scissors company. And we had what’s now called a 3d printer, as part of the equipment in the facility. So, I was really familiar with that technology.”
How do you stay in front of, or best nurture your network community?
“one of the things I like to emphasize with people is to start small and get consistent with your nurturing. So, better to have something that’s monthly and done consistently and done well than to have something that you remember to do occasionally and don’t remember to do on other occasions…”
What advice do you have for the professional on growing their network?
“I think one of the most important things is to get really clear on who you would like to work with or connect with.”
Digital networking or traditional networking?
“both of course. So, here’s the thing everyone needs to answer for themselves. There are a hundred different lead generation strategies. Question number is, can I do it. Do I have the bandwidth to do it, do I have the technical skill to do it? And the second is will you do it?”
We’ve all heard of the 6 degrees of separation… Now, who would be the one person you’d love to connect with, and do you think you could do it within the 6th degree?
“Richard Branson. I think he’s a fascinating person and he’s successful and the guy has fun.”
What book are you reading right now?
“I’m part way through a couple but, the ones I am reading right now are, The Habits Book by Charles Duhigg, Multipliers by Liz Wiseman, and a really, really good one that just came out is called, Adding Zeros by Brad Sugars and Monte Wyatt.”
Any final words of advice for our listeners?
“it’s about making connections. It’s a long-term strategy and sometimes the real value that you can bring to people, I know the value that I can bring to people are the people I can connect them with…”
